Zandvoort 10-11.10.2009 and
Season summary
Hello friends
The season 2009 is now over.
It was a little disappointment, that we couldn´t be more competitive with our N24 spec Aston Martin against the new 2009 cars. We sure know the week points of the car, but respected the strict homologation rules and kept the car as it´s homologated. I hope everyone else did the same. If not, I think you can´t honestly be so proud of the results afterwards.
It was obvious in the early part of the season, that with old spec car it will be quite hard to fight even in top ten. Then we settled ourselves a new goal for the season. To be number one Aston Martin overall. And that we did. I did my best and made only few mistakes during the whole season, so I´m satisfied.
Next season will come and I´m sure I can fight for podiums in GT4-class. Is it in European GT4, or Dutch, with Aston Martin, or some else... I´ll be back.
Last Dutch GT4 weekend could be better, but some small mistakes in both qualifyings dropped me too far back to the grid.
In the first quali we made a wrong tyre choiche and lost a lot.
In the second quali I lost my fastest lap, for yellow flags, but there I lost only few places.
Both sprint races were like too many else this year. Just saving the car and wait what is coming. After all I got P9 and P10.
The last race of the year didn´t went so pretty well. Mr Lammers hit me out in the end of the main straight, when I overtook him. I also hit tyre barriers, but got back to the track and drove till the end few laps behind. I don´t want to cry, but the "zero tolerance" which was the theme for the year, were only dead letters. I think for the next season the race directors and drivers should understand these words better.
Regards
Mikko
